What are multiple
intelligences?
When talking about multiple intelligences, we
are not making reference to an only intelligence, but to a set of different, multiple and
independent intelligences. That means you can be brilliant at
English and hopeless at Mathematics.
What it means taking
into account multiples intelligences when teaching?
It means to adapt our way of teaching to each
child, so that they can learn better. Everybody have all the intelligences, although
one is always more developed than the others. Those kinds of intelligences are:
- Logical-mathematical
- Spatial
- Linguistic
- Bodily-kinesthetic
- Musical
- Interpersonal
- Intrapersonal
- Naturalistic
What are the
advantages of putting into practice this method?
The fact of using multiple intelligences in
education has some positive effects, such as:
·
Make easier the task
of learning for students.
·
Reduce the school
dropout rate.
The most important aim of multiple intelligences
is not to doom to failure those students who can be good at some field, but to
make the most of their main intelligence to learn, and to boost the others.
